Irregularity 异规
Irregularity is an interactive light installation that combines the use of physical computing, light mapping, physical construction altogether.The central idea is to represent our artistic expression of the ecology of the urban village in the Nantou Ancient City. As we collect and analyze different types of information about the Nantou Ancient City, Shenzhen, we employ our senses to see, hear, and feel every part in the city to extract key concepts such as irregularity, contrast and mixed feelings.
Irregularity mainly plays with optical illusion to let the audience experience the idea of irregularity and uniformity in different ways synchronously.The interac- tion is as simple as just walking around the layers and the audience’s distance is detected and measured to affect the installation in colours, patterns and speed, “transferring” all audiences to the Nantou Ancient Town in an immersive and digital way.
异规作为一个结合了物理计算,灯光映射和物理构造的交互灯光装置,代表了我们团队对于南头古城内部城中村的生态环境的一种艺术化的表达。在收集和分析深圳南头古城不同类型的信息时,我们运用各个感官去看、听、感受它的每一个部分并从中提取出不规则、对比、复杂情绪等关键概念。异规主要利用视觉错觉让观众以不同的方式同时体验其关于不规则与一致性的理念。同时,互动过程十分简易,观众只需在各个层次间行走,就可以检测到他们与装置的距离,从而在颜色、图案和速度上影响异规的行为,以一种身临其境的数字方式将所有观众“转移”到南头古城之中。
